A Strong Academic Environment Does Not Automatically Fix a Reading Disability.
Allen ISD offers a wide range of academic opportunities, including advanced coursework, gifted and talented services, dual-credit options, AP and IB courses, and specialized programs through Allen High School and Lowery Freshman Center.
But access to strong academics depends on being able to read the material efficiently.
A student can understand complex ideas and still struggle with:
Guessing unfamiliar words.
Slow or effortful decoding.
Spelling that does not become automatic.
Losing comprehension because so much attention is being spent on reading the words.
That is why I do not simply add more reading practice.
I look for which reading skills have not become automatic yet and teach from there.
Blossoming Skills uses a Speech-to-Print approach that begins with spoken language and teaches students how the sounds they already know connect to print.
Reading Therapy for Allen Students
Blossoming Skills works with families throughout Allen and Allen ISD. Allen ISD currently serves students through elementary campuses, three middle schools, Lowery Freshman Center for ninth grade, and Allen High School for grades 10–12.
Because sessions are live online, Allen families can access individualized reading intervention from home without adding another drive to an already full week.

Your Child’s Reading Progress Should Be Measurable.
Every student begins with a comprehensive reading assessment so I can identify exactly where reading is breaking down and build instruction around your child’s actual reading profile.
At the end of the 12-week program, your child is reassessed so we can clearly measure the growth.
I guarantee at least one full grade level of reading growth. If that growth is not there, I continue working with your child at no additional cost until the goal is reached.
After everything your family has already tried, the next step should not be another vague promise that reading will eventually improve.
It should be individualized, measurable, and built around what your child actually needs.
