Speech-to-Print Takes a Different Path
Most phonics instruction starts with print. Speech-to-Print starts with the spoken language your child already knows.
Your child already knows thousands of spoken words. We help them understand how the sounds in those words are represented in print.
Instead of relying on more rules, syllable types, or lists of patterns to memorize, we organize reading around the sounds of the language and the different ways those sounds can be spelled.
HEAR THE SOUNDS
Your child learns to notice, separate, blend, and manipulate the individual sounds inside spoken words.
CONNECT SOUNDS TO PRINT
They learn that a sound can be represented by one or more letters—and that the same sound may be spelled in different ways.
For example, the sound /ā/ can be represented in cake, rain, play, and eight.
BUILD AUTOMATICITY
Through carefully targeted practice, those sound-to-print connections become faster and more automatic, so your child no longer has to work so hard to figure out every word.
When decoding requires less mental effort, your child has more attention available for fluency, comprehension, and meaning.

I’m Catherine Mitchell, a Certified Special Education Teacher and Dyslexia Specialist based in Fort Worth, Texas.
I’m also a mom of three children with different learning struggles and learning differences, so this work is personal to me.
I know the heartbreak of watching a child work harder than everyone around them and still feel like they are falling behind.
I know what it is like to sit across from teachers, specialists, and schools searching for answers.

That is a big part of why I have spent my career in special education and reading intervention.
I have always believed that children deserve the chance to reach their full potential, and becoming a strong, independent reader is one of the most powerful ways we can give them that chance.

Yes. Virtual 1-on-1 reading therapy can be highly effective when sessions are live, individualized, and interactive. Students work directly with a reading specialist in real time using targeted activities, visual tools, and guided practice based on their specific reading needs. Because instruction is 1-on-1, the specialist can immediately see where the student is getting stuck, adjust the lesson, and provide focused support that is difficult to replicate in a larger group setting.
For students who are multiple grade levels behind, the goal is not simply to complete more reading practice. It is to identify the specific skills that have not become automatic and teach from that point forward.

A: We specialize in all ages from 4 to 99. We recommend in person sessions for students under 7 or 8 years old. If the distance is too far for in person sessions we offer parent coaching/training for younger students who aren’t ready for Zoom yet.

We maintain micro-groups (2 to 4 students max) matched carefully by skill level rather than just age.
