When Your Child Is Clearly Capable, Reading Struggles Can Be Especially Confusing.

Maybe your child is curious.

Verbal.

Quick to understand new ideas.

Strong in math, science, or problem solving.

But when reading is involved, everything slows down.

They may guess unfamiliar words.

Read much more slowly than you expect.

Spell the same word differently within one assignment.

Or understand far more when someone reads the material aloud.

Blossoming Skills Reading Therapy provides private, 1-on-1 online dyslexia intervention and reading therapy for students in Richardson, TX, including Richardson ISD families, private-school students, charter-school students, and homeschool families.

Your child’s reading performance should not hide what they are capable of learning.

We Don't Just Hope Reading Gets Easier. We Prove It.

Dyslexia Can Exist Alongside Strong Thinking Skills.

Richardson ISD’s own dyslexia information describes dyslexia as difficulty with accurate or fluent word recognition, spelling, and decoding that can be unexpected compared with a student’s other cognitive abilities.

That mismatch is often what parents notice first.

A child may understand complex ideas, participate in gifted or advanced classes, or reason at a high level and still struggle to read words automatically.

Richardson ISD offers gifted services, acceleration, AP, Pre AP, On Ramps, and dual-credit opportunities, with gifted services beginning in elementary school.

When reading remains the barrier, I look at the specific skills that have not become automatic.

Blossoming Skills uses a Speech-to-Print approach that starts with spoken language and teaches students how the sounds they already know connect to print.

Reading Therapy for Richardson Students

Blossoming Skills works with students throughout Richardson and Richardson ISD, including families in traditional campuses, gifted programs, magnet programs, private schools, and homeschool settings.

Richardson ISD serves more than 35,000 students across 49 schools and includes extensive gifted, dyslexia, advanced-learning, and specialized academic programming.

The district also includes specialized campuses such as MST Magnet, where gifted and advanced-learning strategies are embedded throughout instruction and accelerated learning pathways are available.

But no matter how strong the academic environment is, a student still needs to be able to access the words on the page independently.

The change we are working toward looks like this:

Your child reads unfamiliar words with a strategy instead of guessing.

Reading becomes more accurate and less effortful.

Spelling begins to make more sense.

They can focus on the meaning of what they are reading instead of using all of their attention to decode it.

The goal is for reading ability to better reflect the thinking ability you already know is there.

Because sessions are live online, Richardson families can receive individualized reading therapy from home.

Strong Thinking Should Not Be Hidden Behind Difficult Reading.

Every student begins with a comprehensive reading assessment so I can identify exactly where reading is breaking down and build instruction around your child’s actual reading profile.

At the end of the 12-week program, your child is reassessed so the growth is measured clearly.

I guarantee at least one full grade level of reading growth. If that growth is not there, I continue working with your child at no additional cost until the goal is reached.

Your child does not need another year of compensating for reading difficulties.

They need instruction that identifies what is missing, teaches directly from there, and measures the progress.
