Summer Reading Intensive for Struggling Readers

Help your child build reading confidence before school starts.

This intensive 12-week, 1-on-1 reading program is designed specifically for students who are reading below grade level and need a completely different approach.

Rather than forcing kids to memorize endless phonics rules and exceptions, we use an approach that aligns with how the human brain naturally learns language. As reading begins to make sense, students experience rapid breakthroughs in fluency, spelling, word recognition, and overall confidence.

A limited number of summer internship spots are available for this 12-week intensive at a significantly reduced tuition rate.

Is This Program Right for Your Child?

Is This Program Right for Your Child?

This program is a proven fit if your child:

✔ Struggles with reading despite working incredibly hard

✔ Has completed school interventions or traditional tutoring with limited progress

✔ Reads slowly, skips words, or treats reading like a guessing game

✔ Has persistent difficulty with spelling

✔ Becomes deeply frustrated, shuts down, or completely avoids reading

✔ Needs a massive confidence boost before the new school year begins

Why This Approach Is Different

Many of the students I work with are incredibly hard workers. They've practiced. They've completed tutoring programs. They've learned phonics rules. Yet reading still feels slow, effortful, and frustrating.

The issue is that reading has been taught in a way that doesn't match how the brain naturally learns language.

When instruction starts making sense, students begin making connections much more quickly. Reading becomes less overwhelming, words become easier to figure out, and fluency and spelling begin to improve—without the usual tears and exhaustion.

What Is Included?

Internship Program Information

This summer program is being provided by a veteran classroom teacher completing advanced training under the direct supervision of an experienced reading therapist with a long track record of helping struggling readers make significant progress.

Because this is an internship opportunity, families receive a significantly reduced tuition rate. The goal is to provide students with highest-quality instruction while allowing the teacher to gain supervised experience implementing the program.

Space is strictly limited to a small number of students.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How long is the program? The Summer Reading Intensive includes 14 total sessions: 1 comprehensive pre-assessment session, 12 weeks of targeted 1-on-1 intervention, and 1 objective post-assessment session to identify your child's specific needs and measure growth throughout the program.

  • Does my child need a dyslexia diagnosis? No. Many of the students I work with do not have a formal diagnosis. This program is designed for any struggling reader who needs additional support with reading, spelling, fluency, and confidence.

  • What ages do you work with? I typically work with students from age 7.5 through adulthood via Zoom. Children under 7 often benefit more from an in-person format depending on their maturity level and ability to engage in an online setting.

  • Are sessions online or in person? Most sessions are conducted securely via Zoom. Many parents are initially concerned about online learning for a struggling reader, but our completely multisensory approach keeps kids actively engaged. If we find during the consultation that Zoom is absolutely not a fit for your child, we will discuss alternative options, including in-person options when available.

  • Is parent involvement required? Yes, a parent or caregiver is an important part of the process. You will receive easy-to-follow coaching and guidance throughout the program so you confidently know exactly how to support your child between sessions. That said, I understand every family situation is different and alternative arrangements can be accommodated when needed.

  • How is progress measured? Every student completes a pre-assessment and post-assessment. This allows us to identify their exact strengths and weaknesses, develop an individualized plan, and objectively measure growth throughout the 12 weeks.
